The Minnesota Project, a CERTs partner organization, is seeking a candidate to manage their energy program and to work with their agriculture program to expand new initiatives, maintain current energy projects, provide a voice in state and Federal policy work, and to attend and develop meetings and conferences. The ideal candidate will have expertise in at least one clean energy area, a clear understanding of energy and agriculture, and possess effective communications to reach multiple audiences.

The Minnesota Project, a nonprofit organization, champions the sustainable production and equitable distribution of energy and food in communities across Minnesota. Their programs are focused on clean renewable energy and energy efficiency; farm practice and policy that promote profitable farms that conserve and preserve natural resources; and the production and consumption of healthy, local, whole foods.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the energy program, which requires general knowledge of clean energy and at least one area of expertise such as energy efficiency, biomass, biogas digesters, wind, or solar, etc.
  • Supervise and evaluate energy staff and interns.
  • Participate in the fundraising and grant writing for the organization and energy programs.
  • Work with leadership team and report to the Executive Director.
  • Create and manage program budgets in cooperation with the Executive Director.
  • Help to provide vision, evaluation and development of goals and directions for the energy program.
  • Work collaboratively with the leadership team to ensure program integration among agriculture, energy, and food initiatives.
  • Assist the total organization as needed in other major projects that require full-staff assistance.

Experience and Qualification Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelors degree (Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred) plus 2+ years relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of energy and agriculture issues required; proven track record of successful fundraising and development-related experience preferred; and connection to Minnesota’s energy and agriculture community preferred.
  • The candidate should also have supervisory experience; successful collaboration, networking and relationship-building skills; the ability to manage multiple projects; excellent verbal and written communication skills and public speaking experience; and the desire to work in an open and friendly work environment.
