Energy Auditor

The hourly rate for this position is expected to be $23.08/hr
The Energy Auditor is responsible for providing in-home residential energy analysis in support of CEE’s Residential Programs. The Energy Technician is part of a two-person team and is primarily responsible for the technical aspects of the Home Energy Squad (HES) home visit, including conducting building diagnostics, identifying major retrofit opportunities, and providing a quote for insulation/air sealing treatments. This administrative level position reports to HES supervisory staff.

Responsibilities
- Work with a team member to conduct home visits according to established protocols.
- Manage time to complete visits according to schedule.
- Assume the role of Lead or Installer for HES Energy Saver visits.
- Conduct product installations (primarily LED light bulbs, energy efficient shower heads, weatherstripping, and thermostats) for HES and multifamily visits.
- Perform blower door and combustion safety tests, inspecting insulation levels in walls and attics, including infrared camera assessment, and preparing an accurate quote for insulation/air sealing treatments.
- Communicate with the Energy Counselor throughout visits about upgrades recommendations.
- Review insulation/air sealing quote and reinforce upgrades recommendations with homeowners.
- Review and send completed Energy Fitness Plan with customers while in their residence.
- Accurately record and enter data into the tracking database and manage product inventory.
- Drive a Home Energy Squad van.
- Occasional overnight trips to greater Minnesota
- Conducting research and completing assigned tasks and responsibilities during office time.
- Assisting with program marketing and outreach efforts.
- Understand and adhere to corporate policies and procedures, attending trainings as requested, and reading company-wide emails and correspondence.
- Cross-trained in Energy Counselor position or ability to be cross-trained in a timely manner
- Ongoing participation in our Energy Counselor and Energy Auditor training program
- Other duties as assigned or apparent
Qualifications
- Possess solid knowledge of and demonstrated experience in building science, residential energy efficiency and residential building construction, and the capacity and interest to learn more
- Possess Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification or ability to work with CEE to obtain certification
- Preferred experience with infrared camera assessment and estimating or installing insulation
- Exhibit strong customer relations skills to effectively engage with clients.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Showcase exceptional excellent time-management and organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines
- Possess basic computer and keyboard competency and show proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
- Be able to lift 50 pounds and perform physical tasks like carrying, pushing, pulling, kneeling, and squatting.
- Be willing and able to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Hold a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record, and an ability to occasionally travel overnight to conferences and out-of-state work trips.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
