Ramping up outreach for Duluth's innovative energy savings competition

Have you heard the news? Duluth is one of the final cities competing in the Georgetown University Energy Prize Competition (GUEP) that will award one of 50 cities $5 million for efficient energy saving.

Ecolibrium3, one of the main partners in the Duluth Energy effort, used a Northeast CERT Seed Grant to help create two video campaigns completed by Lola Visuals.

The first was an energy audit informational video to help residents better understand what is included in home energy analyses with blower door assessments. Watch below.

The second set of videos were part of the “Why Waste?” campaign to help residents better visualize the insanity of wasting 60% of the energy generated in the U.S. Watch below.

Jodi Slick, CEO of Ecolibrium3, notes that there are a lot of creative and fun ways to get folks fired up and working together around energy efficiency. “We are looking at taking this campaign concept and now adapting it for recruitment of business partners in 2015-2016 for the Georgetown University Energy Prize Competition. For example, we are hoping that we can show the “Why Waste?” pizza example on web and TV and recruit local pizza delivery companies to include an energy factoid and action statement with each delivery. We are also exploring doing the same with Duluth’s craft brew industry (coasters with facts and action steps).”
